Liverpool vs Man Utd: prediction & betting tips 17/12/2023

Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.

Liverpool vs Man Utd preview

Excluding Europa League games, Liverpool have a 9-games unbeaten run (6 wins, 3 draws). Yes, they were defeated by Union Saint-Gilloise this week (1:2). However, I believe we can omit this result as the Reds are obviously focused on the Premier League. They currently top the standings but they’re just one point ahead of Arsenal and two points ahead of Aston Villa. Diogo Jota is to miss this game due to injury, but all other key players are ready.

Man Utd keep on being in a devastating crisis. The Red Devils have been eliminated from the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich (0:1) and occupying the last position in the group table. They’re currently sixth in the Premier League, ten points behind Liverpool. Manchester United have a long list of those who will miss this game either because of disqualification or an injury. They somehow managed to defeat Chelsea (2:1) two rounds ago, but were immediately beaten by Bournemouth (0:3) in the next game.

Liverpool — Man Utd head-to-head

The last time these teams played in the Premier League was in March. It was an astonishing 7:0 victory of Liverpool. The Red Devils have managed to win only twice out of the last 14 head-to-head Premier League games. They also lost (0:5) in October, 2021.

Liverpool vs Man Utd odds

Bookmakers absolutely have no doubt about who is going to win this game. You can bet on Liverpool at around 3/10, while the odds on Manchester United to win are at around 15/2. You can bet on a draw at around 5/1.

Liverpool vs Man Utd betting tips

Manchester United haven’t scored in 6 out of the last 7 head-to-head Premier League games in Liverpool.

A maximum of 3 goals have been scored in 9 out of the last 12 head-to-head Premier League games in Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Man Utd prediction

Liverpool are running for the title. Alongside many other contenders. But I don’t believe that Manchester United are one of them. The Red Devils are in such a deep crisis that it’s unlikely they will find a way out in a tough game like this. Liverpool have a better squad, they have a better mood and finally they really know better what to do in the current situation. I don’t think that this match will end in the same way the previous one did. However, I have no doubt the home side will win this game.
