Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Both clubs have seen managerial changes in the past month, yet the results remain unchanged. Millwall are cemented in 17th place, while Luton Town sit in 23rd.
Luton Town
Under Matt Bloomfield, Luton Town have played just two matches. While they might seem positive on the surface—keeping a clean sheet in one and scoring twice in the other—the outcomes weren't ideal. The first was a goalless draw at home to Preston North End, and the second, a 3:2 away loss to Oxford United. How did Luton Town not overcome Preston North End, given they offered virtually no resistance? The visitors managed just two shots, none of which were threatening (0.01 xGA), and had only 38% possession. Luton's players struck with nearly 50% accuracy (four out of nine on target), yet it hardly translated into a goal (0.48 xG). That match was the sixth out of eight where the total was under 2.5.
Millwall
Alex Neil's appointment has also failed to have the desired effect, with the club dropping from 13th to 17th under his leadership. Averaging just half a point per match, they've played four Championship games. In two of those, Millwall surprisingly scored twice, yet both ended in 2:2 draws. The other two were typical low-scoring affairs, with frustrating 0:1 home losses to Oxford United and Hull City, who were lower in the standings at the time. A repeat of 2:2 seems unlikely. Did you see how Luton squander their chances?
Luton Town vs Millwall Prediction
A total under 2.5 seems to be the safest bet — seven out of Millwall's last 10 games have rewarded those who backed this option. You already know about Luton's record.
