Densho is illustrated in the style of Japanese watercolour: pastel backgrounds with mountains and sakura, and symbols that seem to emerge from rice paper. The grid is a standard 5x4, but it doesn’t look like a grid — the reels dissolve into the landscape. High-value symbols include the samurai, geisha, crane and other imagery associated with Eastern heritage. The overall picture is calm but slightly muted — it feels less like a firework festival and more like a story about tradition and discipline.

Special Symbols

Wild (mountains). Substitutes for all regular symbols. Pays separately — x20 for 5 in a line. Can appear as a regular symbol and as an expanding Densho.

Densho symbols. When expanded, they transform into a wild reel with a multiplier. There are three types:

• Common — multipliers from x2 to x10,
• Rare — multipliers from x5 to x50,
• Legendary — multipliers up to x100.

If several Densho symbols participate in one combination, their values are added together.

Scatter (FS). Landing 3 or more symbols triggers the bonus spins. During the bonus rounds, scatters can retrigger additional spins.

Upgrade. Appears only in the bonus spins. Fills the Progression Tracker above its reel, increasing the minimum quality of the Densho symbol that can appear on that reel (for example, from Common to Rare and then to Legendary).

Bonus Game

• Free Spins. Activated when 3 scatters land and awards 10 spins. Above each reel, there is a Progression Tracker showing the minimum Densho quality available on that reel. When an Upgrade symbol lands, it increases the tracker level, unlocking access to rarer Densho symbols. Retriggers are possible: two scatters add two spins, three add +4.
• Super Free Spins. Triggered by 4 scatters and also awards 10 spins. The key difference is that all Progression Trackers start at level 2, guaranteeing at least Rare Densho on every reel.

RTP, Volatility, Max Win

Densho has several RTP versions depending on the casino’s settings: 96.40%, 94.38%, 92.33% and 88.34%. Volatility is high — 4 out of 5 on the Hacksaw scale, meaning the bonus may take a long time to appear, but when it does, it can deliver substantial payouts. The maximum win is capped at x10,000 of the stake. If it is reached, the round ends automatically, even if unused free spins remain.

Densho feels like a slot about patience: the base game can spin rather sluggishly, but once you land an expanding Densho, the screen comes alive.
