Neto double secures Chelsea win at Everton

Pedro Neto scored two second-half goals as Chelsea earned a 2-0 victory against Everton to inflict the hosts' first Premier League defeat of the campaign. The win on Merseyside moved Chelsea onto 13 points from seven matches and lifted them into the Champions League places.

Neto opened the scoring 43 seconds into the second period before adding his second in the 90th minute to confirm Chelsea's first league clean sheet in nine months. The second half was disrupted by a lengthy stoppage after Chelsea goalkeeper Emi Martinez suffered a head injury in a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite and left the field on a stretcher.

Everton had opportunities when Thierno Barry headed at Martinez and Jack Grealish saw a volley saved, while Moises Caicedo struck the bar for Chelsea before the interval. Chelsea also avoided sanction earlier when forward Morgan Rogers stayed on the pitch after a high challenge on James Garner.

  • Before the Everton match, Chelsea had conceded in 22 consecutive Premier League games, having last kept a league clean sheet against Brentford on 17 January 2026.
  • Everton entered the fixture unbeaten following two wins and four draws in their first six Premier League matches, leaving both sides level on 10 points beforehand.
