Bournemouth beat Aston Villa 3-0 to reach Carabao Cup last eight

Bournemouth reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 home win over Aston Villa, their fifth successive victory in all competitions. New Bournemouth manager Marco Rose's side advanced to the last eight for the first time since the 2018/19 season.

Amine Adli opened the scoring in the seventh minute from Julio Soler's cross. Bournemouth captain Lewis Cook doubled the lead six minutes into the second half when a mistake by Villa goalkeeper Marco Bizot allowed Cook's delivery to creep in at the near post.

Alvaro Rodriguez added the third in the 69th minute with a low finish for his first goal in English domestic football. Bournemouth made eight changes, while Villa manager Unai Emery made nine from the win over Manchester City.

  • Aston Villa had won six and drawn one of their seven matches before facing Bournemouth, scoring 20 goals and keeping two clean sheets.
  • Bournemouth had beaten Lincoln City 4-0 at home in the League Cup on 8 September 2026, while Aston Villa had advanced with a 3-1 away win over Coventry City.
