Alexia Putellas wins record-equalling third women's Ballon d'Or

Alexia Putellas, the London City Lionesses midfielder, has won a record-equalling third women's Ballon d'Or at Monday's ceremony in London. The Spain international is the first player to win the award while representing a WSL club.

Since joining London City in July, Putellas has scored three goals and supplied one assist in seven WSL games. Last season, she scored 26 goals and provided 15 assists for club and country.

  • Barcelona completed the 2025–26 quadruple by winning Liga F, the UEFA Women's Champions League, the Copa de la Reina and the Supercopa de España.
  • The 2026 women's Ballon d'Or shortlist included 11 WSL players: five from Manchester City, and two each from Arsenal, Chelsea and London City Lionesses.
