A Real Madrid academy graduate has retired at the age of 19 due to injuries

Spanish midfielder and Real Madrid academy graduate Marc Cucalon has announced his retirement from football at the age of 19 due to serious injuries.

"This injury, after several complications, forced me to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to football. For two years, I tried everything within my power to return and enjoy the sport once more.

In the end, I had the honor of being part of the best club in the world and living the dream," Cucalon wrote on social media.

In September 2022, Cucalon tore his cruciate ligament during a match in the UEFA Youth League. During surgery, a bacteria entered his joint, causing an infection that prevented him from fully recovering.
