British singer, designer, and entrepreneur Victoria Beckham has opened up about the most challenging period for their family with former England footballer David Beckham.

«The most difficult time in our lives occurred following the 1998 World Cup in France when David faced criticism after the defeat. At the time, David was the same age as Romeo is now (Victoria and David's middle son). For a 22-year-old, it was a tough ordeal. However, we stood by each other, and the rest is history. In the round of 16 of the 1998 World Cup, England faced Argentina (2-2, 3-4 on penalties). Beckham was sent off for kicking Argentinian forward Diego Simeone, who had fouled him, after the play had stopped. The press later blamed Beckham for the national team's exit from the tournament.
