Former French President Sarkozy to Attend France-Israel Nations League Match

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy plans to attend the upcoming Nations League match between France and Israel, part of the fifth round of the group stage.

"I want to support the government’s decision to proceed with the match, despite all threats. France is a republic and welcomes the Israeli team. That’s why I will be there in the stadium with the French people. We must never yield to those who seek to spread terror. To back down would mean accepting the unacceptable," Sarkozy told RMC.

On November 8, reports emerged that masked individuals attempted to break into hotels in Amsterdam where Tel Aviv fans were staying, leaving at least five fans with stab injuries.

On November 7, Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to Ajax in the Europa League group stage.

The France-Israel Nations League match is scheduled for November 14 at the Stade de France.
