Kenyan runner Kipyegon Bett has died at the age of 26
Kenyan runner Kipyegon Bett, a bronze medalist at the World Athletics Championships, has died at the age of 26.
According to Nation Africa, citing the athlete's sister Purity Kirui, Bett had suffered damage to his liver and other organs.
It was reported that the athlete had been receiving outpatient treatment at a hospital, but his condition worsened, and he was hospitalized on October 5. Despite medical efforts, Bett passed away.
Bett was the 2016 World U20 champion and won bronze in the 800 meters at the 2017 World Championships.
