Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Conference League match.
Jagiellonia dominated the first leg in Białystok, securing a 3:0 victory and virtually booking their place in the next round. Cercle Brugge now face an almost impossible task of overturning the deficit, especially given their recent struggles in domestic football.
Cercle Brugge
Cercle Brugge are winless in their last seven league matches, and their latest setback was a 1:3 defeat in the Bruges derby against Club Brugge. The first-leg thrashing against Jagiellonia exposed their mental fragility—after conceding in the 69th minute, they collapsed and let in two more goals within nine minutes.
Jagiellonia
The Polish club have rarely suffered heavy defeats this season. Their last major loss in Ekstraklasa came on 14 September against Lech Poznań (0:5), who currently lead the league. In European competition, they were heavily beaten by Ajax (1:4 at home, 0:3 away) in last season’s Europa League qualifiers, but comparing the Dutch giants to Cercle Brugge is a stretch.
Cercle Brugge vs Jagiellonia Prediction
Jagiellonia will go through regardless of the second-leg result, and they don’t need to chase the game. Cercle Brugge haven’t scored more than once in a match since 12 December, so even if they win, it’s unlikely they will find the net more than once.
