Book Of Ra Deluxe Demo Mode

Novomatic’s Book of Ra Deluxe brings the original “book” formula back with cleaner visuals and that one ritual everyone comes for — expanding symbols in Free Games. First launched in 2008, it feels like a sharper cut of the classic rather than a remake. The demo is right on this page; you can also try more games from this provider in Legalbet’s slots section without spending a penny.

Book of Ra Deluxe: Design and Theme

🖼️ Graphics

The base game drops us into a sandstone chamber: reels framed by painted columns, neon-bright royals and emerald scarabs glowing against dark reliefs. It looks like the original finally got dusted and polished — edges are crisper, colours are deeper — yet some charming “old-school” roughness intentionally remains: chunky icon outlines, loud gradients, that unmistakable UI with side bars for line numbers.

Trigger Free Games and the whole screen reads more ceremonial: papyrus-toned panels, pink line tracers dancing over a wall of expanding symbols. It’s still very much Book of Ra, just finished with a steadier hand.

🎶 Sound

The audio is almost unchanged from the original cut — the same clacky Novomatic button clicks and the same triumphal jingle when a line lands. In the bonus, the familiar Ancient-Egypt motif returns, only a touch cleaner in the mix. If you’ve spent time with earlier Novomatic cabinets, your ears will feel at home; most players won’t notice a difference beyond that slight “studio scrub”.

Special symbols

Before diving in, remember that the slot pays across 10 fixed lines from left to right, and the Book symbol drives every key feature — Free Games introduce the “expanding” mechanic.

  • Book — Wild/Scatter (book with a red gemstone): acts as a Wild, substituting for all regular symbols; also functions as a Scatter, paying on its own (x2 for 3, x20 for 4 and x200 for 5 Books anywhere on the reels) and triggering Free Games. During Free Games, the Book does not substitute for the selected expanding symbol.
  • Special Expanding Symbol (any regular symbol chosen at random): selected at the beginning of the bonus. Stretches across the entire reel when there are enough to win.

Bonus game

  • Free Games (10 spins): Launched by 3+ book symbols. One symbol is randomly selected to expand. After each spin’s regular line evaluation, if there are enough chosen symbols on the screen, they expand and pay as if sitting in tidy lines across all 10.
  • Retrigger: 3+ books during Free Games award +10 spins.
  • Gamble: available after standard wins for a 50/50 double. You can turn it off in the settings.

RTP, Volatility and Maximum Win

The official rules for Book of Ra Deluxe list a theoretical RTP of 94.26%. Volatility is high. The maximum win remains the same as in the original — x5,000 for a full screen of explorers in the bonus round.

Our verdict

Book of Ra Deluxe is the tidied-up original. We like how the art was sharpened without sanding off its cabinet charm; it still looks and sounds like a Novomatic slot should. The game lives or dies by that special symbol: when it connects, the screen lights up; when it doesn’t, you can get long, dusty runs.

The 94.26% RTP is modest by modern standards, so this one’s more about nostalgia and volatility than slow-burn value. We'd choose it when we want to play an older game but with a cleaner coat of paint.

If you fancy more “book” spins afterwards:

  • Book of Santa — a cheerful seasonal skin with the same expand-and-pray rhythm; good if you want a lighter mood.
  • Book of Oil — grittier theme and hefty swings; suits players who prefer darker aesthetics with the familiar mechanic.
