In the base game, the grid looks like a wall of shields between two hoplites: dark stone slabs, sparse golden accents, and above them — the Lambda metre, glowing like smouldering coal. Entering the bonus transports us into Charon’s boat: the background darkens, the air crackles, the tiles glow with fire, and the Scatters become heavier and brighter.
When the metre fills during the bonus, Unity activates: a molten stream seems to pour from above, the entire grid equalises into a single symbol, a shared multiplier lights up in the corner, and the visuals turn uniformly orange.

Special Symbols
To quickly understand how to play Shields of Lambda, keep your focus on four symbols:
- Wild (gold plate with the letter W): substitutes for any symbols except the Scatter. Does not pay on its own.
- Scatter (shield with “BNS”): 3/4/5 trigger 10/15/20 FS.
- Lambda (red V-shaped mark on stone): appears randomly; if a cluster hits, all Lambdas under the win are removed and added to the metre.
- Colossal Wild (large WILD block in a golden frame): can drop on non-winning spins, removes Lambdas beneath it and speeds up metre progress.
Bonus Game
- Trigger: 3/4/5 Scatters award 10/15/20 FS. No Scatter retrigger in the bonus.
- Gamble before start: you may risk your current number of FS. Win: +5 FS. Lose: all FS are lost. You can collect at any moment, maximum — 20 FS.
- Lambda Metre in the bonus: the required value is 20 collected Lambdas. Lambdas are awarded when they lie under a winning cluster, and also if collected by a Colossal Wild on a non-winning spin. Progress is tied to the chosen stake and is preserved within the round; excess Lambdas carry over to the next metre.
- Unity, when the metre fills, works like this. The grid is filled with one of the low-paying symbols, guaranteeing a win. Then a sequence of cascades occurs: old combinations disappear, new symbols fall from above, and each chain reaction increases the global multiplier by +1. The multiplier has no limit and applies to all wins in the round. If Unity triggers again in the same free spins, the accumulated multiplier is retained and continues to grow.
- Colossal Wild in the bonus: may appear on dead spins, clearing Lambdas beneath it and speeding up Unity activation.
- End of round: the bonus ends when FS run out.

Shields of Lambda is all about patience and rare “eruptions”. The base game passes time with small clusters and gradually feeds the metre, with the occasional help of the Colossal Wild. All the drama arrives when Unity rolls during free spins, and the multiplier grows with every win, never resetting between multiple activations — that’s when a single round can save the entire session.
