Wings of Ra: Design and Theme
🖼️ Graphics
Temple columns, braziers, gold — classic Egypt. The 5x3 grid is framed by stone pillars, and the symbol frames are thin golden plates. Top symbols include the Pharaoh and Nefertiti; below them are the winged falcon and the Eye. The lows — A–10 — are carved in stone. Mystery Coins stand out as oval medallions with a red gem; when several land together, the screen looks almost like stained glass. Overall, the visuals are neat, lightly polished, and free from excessive effects.
🎶 Sound
Soft, minimalist Egyptian motifs play quietly in the background — flute, light percussion, barely noticeable. And on top of this calm backdrop, the effects suddenly strike: loud, sharp, almost like mini jump-scares against the gentle melody. Win cues, Mystery Coin reveals and other sound effects come through noticeably louder than the music, yet they don’t annoy — they add tension. Together, the contrast enhances the Ancient Egypt mood and keeps the player alert.

Special Symbols
- Scatter: triggers the bonus. Three scatters award 12 free spins; each additional scatter adds +3 spins, up to a maximum of 18. Scatters do not appear during free spins, and the round cannot be retriggered.
- Mystery Coins: when they land in the base game, they all transform into the same random symbol. During the bonus, they also fill the progress bar.
Bonus Game
- Mystery Coins collected during free spins fill the progress bar.
- You need 14 coins to fill the bar once.
- Each time the bar fills, the game removes one of the lowest Base Symbols and replaces all its future outcomes with Mystery Coins.
- Mystery Coins never reveal themselves as any symbol that has already been removed.
- The process continues until all low symbols are upgraded, leaving only top symbols on the reels.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
Wings of Ra has a theoretical RTP of 95.69%. Volatility is rated as high: the slot can drain the balance for long stretches without a bonus, but Mystery Coins and the progress bar in free spins can occasionally produce surprisingly strong hits. The maximum win is capped at x3,166 of your stake.
Our Verdict
Wings of Ra is a slot for the patient: the bonus doesn’t trigger often, but the Mystery Coin mechanic really gives the feeling that the reels are being “cleared” of low symbols. In demo testing, the progress bar sometimes filled in sudden bursts and sometimes by tiny increments — this unpredictability is what keeps the gameplay engaging. Some players will enjoy the idea of “pushing all the way to the top symbol”, while others may find it too drawn-out — it all depends on whether you prefer marathons over sprints.
If you want something similar, try Eye of Horus — older, but built around a related symbol-upgrade idea in the bonus. For a different twist on the Egyptian theme, Temple of Ra offers a fresh take with different mechanics.
