Aspinall announced as backup fighter for Jones vs. Miocic bout

English UFC fighter Tom Aspinall has announced that he will serve as the backup fighter for the heavyweight championship bout between Americans Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

Previously, UFC President Dana White had stated that the 31-year-old Briton would be the alternate fighter for the upcoming title fight.

"Will I be the backup fighter for the Jones vs. Miocic fight? Yes, it is official. I mean, Dana announced it a while ago now, but I didn't actuallu hear anything from the UFC. But now we've actually spoke, everything is going good, we've come to an agreement about it," Aspinall shared in an interview with journalist Ariel Helwani.

"We've got plans, big massive plans. But I can't lay it out," he added.

Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are set to clash for the heavyweight title at UFC 309, taking place in New York on November 16.

Tom Aspinall has accumulated 15 wins and suffered three losses in his mixed martial arts career.
