Crosby became the tenth player in NHL history to score 1,600 points in the regular season

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby scored a goal and had two assists in a 6-5 OT win over the Buffalo Stars, breaking the 1,600-point mark in the NHL regular season.

Crosby now has 1602 points (593+1009). The Canadian became the tenth hockey player in league history to break the 1,600-point mark in the regular season. It took him 1,277 games to do so.

Only Wayne Gretzky (667), Mario Lemieux (812), Marcel Dionne (1,164) and Jaromir Jagr (1,274) needed fewer games.

Wayne Gretzky remains the top scorer in NHL history with 2,857 (894+1963) points.
