Ekaterina Alexandrova has withdrawn from the WTA 500 tournament in Ningbo, China

Russian tennis player Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 28th in the world, will not participate in the WTA 500 tournament in Ningbo, China. She was scheduled to face Chinese player You Xiaodi, who is ranked 281st by the WTA, in the first round on October 15. Alexandrova's spot in the opening round will be taken by another Chinese player, lucky loser Yexin Ma. Previously, Russian player Anastasia Potapova also announced her withdrawal from the tournament.

Last week, Alexandrova reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, where she lost to China's Wang Xinyu with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 6-7 (6-8).

The tournament in Ningbo runs from October 14 to 20. Ons Jabeur from Tunisia is the only champion of these competitions, which are being held for the second time; in the previous final, she defeated Russia's Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-1.
