Kucherov's assist and Vasilevskiy's ten saves fail to rescue Tampa in defeat to Toronto

The Tampa Bay Lightning fell 2-5 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular-season matchup. The game took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

For the home side, goals were scored by William Nylander (4' and 28'), Auston Matthews (22', power play), Max Pacioretty (30'), and Matthew Knies (36'). For the Lightning, Nick Paul (16') and Brayden Point (55', power play) found the net.

Tampa's Russian forward Nikita Kucherov recorded an assist in the recent encounter. His compatriot and club teammate, Andrei Vasilevskiy, saved 10 of 14 shots on goal and was substituted in the second period.

As a result of the match, Toronto accumulated eight points, rising to fourth place in the NHL's Eastern Conference standings. Tampa, with six points, is now positioned eighth in the East.

The Maple Leafs will next face the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 23 in their regular schedule, while the Lightning will play against the New Jersey Devils on the same day.
