Monaco thrashes Red Star Belgrade to top Champions League table

Monaco delivered a resounding 5-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the third round of the Champions League group stage. The match took place at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco.

For the home side, Takumi Minamino scored twice (20th and 70th minutes), with further goals from Breel Embolo (45+4'), Wilfried Singo (54'), and Manes Akliouche (90+6'). Belgrade's lone response came through a penalty converted by Sherif Ndiaye (27').

With this win, Monaco accumulated seven points, temporarily climbing to the top of the Champions League group stage standings. Red Star, with no points gathered, has dropped to the bottom, 36th position.

In the next round, Monaco will travel to face Bologna on November 5. The Serbian club will host Barcelona the following day.
