The ITIA General Director has spoken out about Sinner's doping case

Karen Murhaus, the General Director of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), has given her thoughts on the doping case concerning world No.1 Yannick Sinner.

"The anti-doping case management process is complexly structured, and we understand that it can be confusing when it comes to differences in results or presumed discrepancies in this case," Murhaus states.

"To be absolutely clear, this process is defined by the World Anti-Doping Code, engineered by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Tennis Anti-Doping programme. The way we evaluate cases does not change, regardless of the player's profile. The format of case reviewing is dictated solely by the circumstances, facts, and scientific data.

In the case of Sinner, we understand that the appeal centres on the interpretation and application of rules by an independent tribunal when determining the player's level of guilt, if any, not the investigation of facts and scientific data by ITIA.

We acknowledge that our duty is to work with members of the tennis family to ensure trust in the process, and we welcome dialogue with players, their representatives, and the media on this issue," the organisation's statement reads.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Sinner's doping case and has called for the player's disqualification for one to two years.
