Vinicius on comeback against Borussia: "The Champions League is our tournament; we want to win it again"

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has shared insights into how the Madrid team managed a dramatic comeback victory against Borussia Dortmund in the third round of the Champions League group stage.

On Tuesday, October 22, Los Blancos defeated the Dortmund side 5-2 at home, having trailed 0-2 at halftime. Vinicius scored a hat-trick in this encounter.

"What’s the secret of victory? Belief in ourselves. We know that when we play at home, with our fans, anything can happen.

When we went back to the dressing room, none of us spoke a word; we just listened to the coach... And we were told only one thing: if we score first, we’ll get back into the game. And we did, thanks to the fans and the team giving everything. But we must improve and play like this from the start; otherwise, the coach won't handle it!

The coach always tells us to find ways to make matches easier. In the second half, we changed not only our formation but also our game tempo. That’s how we should play. This is our tournament, and we want to win it again," Vinicius' remarks were reported by As.

Real Madrid now has six points and has climbed to ninth place in the Champions League group stage standings. Borussia Dortmund, with the same six points, currently sits in fifth place.

In the next round, Carlo Ancelotti's team will face AC Milan. The match will take place in Madrid on October 5.
