Design and Theme
🖼️ Graphics
Glossy frames, a yellow backdrop, and a showcase of gemstones — almost like an old arcade cabinet. In the base game, the grid is neat and easy to read, but when symbols split and the layout expands, a beautiful chaos begins: sparks, swarms of mini-gems, and your eyes can sometimes get lost in the flicker. One UX drawback: you can’t spin using the spacebar.
🎶 Sound
The background disco track keeps a light rhythm, like a club loop. Combos build with a “musical” staircase: each reactive win adds a short chord and a burst of effects, and the track itself signals how long the chain is. Wilds have a deeper click, and finishing a cluster gives a brief flare — the sound design is well synced with the visuals and helps you gauge the pace of the round.

How wins are calculated: a cluster of 5+ identical symbols that touch horizontally/vertically. Winning tiles split into 4 smaller ones, and new ones fall from above.

Special Symbols
To understand how to play Star Clusters, keep in mind: the entire dynamic is built on reactions and occasional boosts from special symbols.
- Wild (rainbow star): substitutes for all symbols except the Gold Wild.
- Gold Wild (golden star): substitutes for all symbols. It also activates the Gold Wild Multiplier — every time it forms part of a win, the multiplier increases by +1. This multiplier can carry over into the bonus and continue growing there. Up to two Gold Wilds can appear on the grid at the same time.
- Gold Wild Multiplier (counter on the panel): starts at x1 and increases by +1 whenever the Gold Wild participates in a winning cluster. In the base game, it resets after the spin; when the bonus starts, it carries over into the free spins.
- Megapays Symbol (A–9 alphanumeric symbol): used only to trigger the Megapays jackpot feature.
Bonus Game
- Free Spins: awarded for 5+ reactions within a single base-game spin — 2 free spins for the first five reactions, plus +1 for each reaction beyond the fifth. The current Gold Wild Multiplier transfers from the base game and continues to increase in the bonus. Retrigger: every time the multiplier reaches the next multiple of 10, +2 free spins are awarded.
- Megapays (Jackpots): a separate feature with respins and collection of a chosen A–9 symbol. When triggered, the game selects a Megapays symbol, removes all other tiles, locks the chosen ones, and runs respins to collect more. No other wins are paid during this feature. The jackpots are pooled across the Big Time Gaming network and grow with each bet. The total number of collected symbols determines the prize: 4–7 — Mini, 8–11 — Midi, 12–14 — Major, 15+ — Mega.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
RTP is 96.27%. Volatility is not specified by the provider, but feels closer to medium-high. The maximum win is capped at x27,050 times the stake.
Our Verdict
In Star Clusters, short spins often turn into long reaction chains, and the carried-over multiplier from the Gold Wild makes the bonus genuinely impactful. At times, the screen becomes a kaleidoscope, and it’s harder to read the situation, but those are exactly the moments when the best chains tend to happen.
If you want clearer, more structured clusters with progressive strength, check out Sugar Rush 1000; if you prefer simple spins but with powerful multipliers, Gates of Olympus 1000 will suit you.
