Bayer edges out Stuttgart in German Supercup match despite playing with ten men

Bayer Leverkusen triumphed over Stuttgart in a tense match for the German Supercup, winning 3-2 on penalties. The encounter took place at the BayArena in Leverkusen.

During regular time, the hosts took the lead with a goal from Victor Boniface in the 11th minute, followed by a strike from Patrick Schick in the 88th minute. Stuttgart responded with goals from Enzo Millot in the 15th minute and Deniz Undav in the 63rd minute, who found the net with his first touch after coming on as a substitute.

Leverkusen spent much of the match down to ten men after forward Martin Terrier received a straight red card in the 37th minute.

In the penalty shootout, Die Schwarzroten proved more accurate, winning 4-3. The Swabians missed two crucial opportunities: Frans Krätzig saw his shot saved by Leverkusen's Lukas Hradecky, and forward Silas shot over the bar.

This victory marks Bayer Leverkusen's first-ever German Supercup title. Last season, under the management of Xabi Alonso, the team also achieved its first Bundesliga title and secured a second domestic cup.
