Bergwijn explained why he decided to continue his career in Saudi Arabia

Dutch extreme striker Steven Bergwein has commented on his move from Ajax to Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad.

«Of course, financially I will improve a lot. I'm honest about that. But Al-Ittihad is also interesting to me in the sporting component, because top players like Karim Benzema, Moussa Diaby, Danilo Pereira, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho play there. I look forward to being a teammate of such world-class players. And the Saudi Professional League will only get stronger in the coming years», De Telegraaf quoted Bergwijn as saying.

Al-Ittihad paid Ajax for the transfer of 26-year-old Bergwijn 21 million euros. The Dutchman signed a contract with the club until the summer of 2027.

Also during his career, the winger defended the colors of PSV and Tottenham.
