Bergwijn: «I don’t even want to play for Ronald Koeman anymore»

Winger Steven Bergwijn, who recently transferred from Ajax to Al-Ittihad, has responded to criticism from the Netherlands national team head coach Ronald Koeman.

Previously, Koeman chastised Bergwijn's decision to pursue his career in Saudi Arabia, stating that the player chose financial incentives over sporting challenges. Additionally, Koeman announced that he would not be calling up Bergwijn to the national team.

«I don’t even want to play for Ronald Koeman anymore. I won’t play for someone who portray me like he has done in the media. He could have called me, hear my side of the story. How can he say such things without talking to me?» told De Telegraaf.

Bergwijn has scored eight goals in 35 appearances for the Netherlands.
