De Ligt: “Ten Hag wasn't the only reason I joined Manchester United”

Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt stated that the chance to once again work under Erik ten Hag was not the sole reason for his move to the English club from Bayern Munich

The Red Devils announced the transfer of the 25-year-old Dutchman from the Munich team on August 13 for a deal worth €45 million. De Ligt has signed a contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2029.

“Erik ten Hag was not the only reason I joined Manchester United. We are talking about Manchester United here, one of the biggest clubs in the world. There is a lot of pressure because the fans are used to things from the past. Now it is up to us! ” De Ligt said in an interview with Vandaag Inside.

Matthijs de Ligt played for Ajax under Erik ten Hag's management from 2017 to 2019 before transferring to Juventus. In the current season, the defender has made three appearances for Manchester United in the Premier League.
