Deschamps: "Criticism Is Part of My Job"

France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has spoken about the pressure associated with his role.

"Due to the position I hold, I always take full responsibility, which does not prevent me from expressing my thoughts to the players. Criticism has always existed; it is part of my job, and I have no right to condemn it.

I am fully immersed in the situation and conduct my own analysis. I don’t live in a bunker; I interact with many people. The fans will not be pleased that we lost 1-3. I understand that, and it is part of my life as a coach.

When there is a negative result, it is always important to respond and get back on the right track. I am not satisfied with the match against Italy. Tomorrow is a different game, against another team, but with the same commitments. It is good when you show a strong reaction. My aim is to give as much playing time as possible. Pressure is always present, and we need to demonstrate maximum effectiveness," said Deschamps to RMC Sport.

The French national team lost to Italy in the opening match of the Nations League group stage (1-3). Tomorrow, Deschamps' team will face Belgium.
