Djokovic Speaks Out on Sinner's Doping Case, Avoiding Disqualification

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has commented on the doping case involving Italian Jannik Sinner.

«Cases like these are exactly why the PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association) was founded—it advocates for fair and transparent protocols in dealing with such matters. I understand players' frustration due to the lack of consistency; there are many issues within the system. I can empathize with those who feel they are not treated equally.

I hope we can learn from this case and develop a better approach in the future. A collective investigation is needed to examine the system and identify what processes need improvement to ensure that every player, regardless of ranking or status, receives equal treatment,» Djokovic stated during a press conference ahead of the US Open.

It was previously reported that Sinner tested positive for doping twice in March of this year, yet managed to avoid disqualification.

Despite not being disqualified, Sinner was stripped of 400 ranking points and tournament prize money from the Masters series event in Indian Wells.
