Ex-F1 Driver Discusses What Red Bull Must Do for a Strong End to the Season

Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard has outlined the changes Red Bull must make to achieve success in the closing stages of the 2024 season.

"The team is definitely not what it used to be. Lap times don't lie — Red Bull has clear issues. The speed of the RB20 can no longer be considered exemplary. But the team is aware of this; they can't deny it. They need to regroup their engineering forces, as last year the team's specialists developed a fantastic car that won seven races this season. However, it has now become clear that the new technical innovations aren't working, and something needs to change. Still, Red Bull is quite capable of keeping the situation under control, but to do that, they need to find a solution and fully unlock the car's potential," Coulthard said on Channel 4.

On September 1, the Italian Grand Prix concluded at the Monza circuit. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc emerged as the winner. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished sixth.

After 19 Formula 1 races, the Dutchman [Verstappen] leads the overall standings with 303 points. Lando Norris of McLaren is in second place with 241 points.

In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull leads with 446 points, followed closely by McLaren with 438 points.
