Former Manchester United player Anderson has been sentenced to 30 days in prison for failing to pay child support

Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson is set to be jailed.

According to Globo Esporte, citing GHZ, Anderson failed to pay 333,600 reais (approximately €53,600) in child support for his two children.

The Civil Court of Porto Alegre has ruled that the ex-footballer should be sent to the Instituto Penal Irmão Miguel Dário correctional facility for a duration of 30 days.

Should there be no available spots in the closed detention regime, Anderson will serve his sentence under a "semi-open" regime—this allows him to work outside the prison during the day, provided he returns by evening. If the former footballer settles his debt, the incarceration order will be revoked.
