«Haaland read what they said and took it a little personally». Cucurella about his song

Chelsea player Marc Cucurella has claimed that Erling Haaland took his song too personally. 

During the celebrations following Spain's victory at UEFA Euro 2024, the defender took the microphone and sang to the crowd: «Cucu-cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu-cucu-rella, he drinks Estrella, tremble, Haaland, because Cucurella is coming!»

Following the match against Chelsea, where Haaland scored in Manchester City's 3-0 victory, the forward recalled the song: «Funny guy, he asked me for a shirt last season».

«A lot of attention was given to that and these things happen, Cucurella told EFE ahead of Spain’s Nations League opener with Serbia. I am very happy and I think that if someone has a song sung with his name it is because he is a top player or a world star, the name of a player who is not known would not be used.
