Lille midfielder Gomes loses consciousness following collision with Reims player

The match between Lille and Reims was halted for half an hour due to a serious injury sustained by Lille midfielder Angel Gomes.  

In the 12th minute of the game, the 23-year-old Englishman collided with opposing midfielder Amadou Koné, after which he fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Medical staff quickly arrived on the scene, leading to the game's suspension. Healthcare professionals provided assistance to Gomes for around 30 minutes before he was carried off on a stretcher. Amadou Koné received a straight red card for the foul on the Lille midfielder.  

The match is being held at the Stade Auguste Delaune in Reims. An additional 30 minutes were added to the first half, with the score still at 0-0.  

Angel Gomes is a product of Manchester United's academy, and he joined Lille in 2020. Last season, the midfielder scored two goals and registered ten assists in 45 appearances for the club. Gomes's contract with the French team runs until the summer of 2025.
