Makhachev responds if Usman Nurmagomedov is ready to become his successor in the UFC
UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has addressed the question of whether Usman Nurmagomedov could be seen as his successor in MMA.
«Umar Nurmagomedov mentioned that his brother Usman will be your successor in the UFC. What can you say about this?»«Usman has great potential; he grew up with us, sparred many rounds with Khabib. He is my sparring partner now. When Usman was very young, we used to put the pressure on him in the cage. He is ready for anything and can fight any opponent. I believe that when he finishes his business in Bellator, he could come to the UFC and become a champion,» said Makhachev to Nosheh MMA.
The 27-year-old Nurmagomedov is the Bellator lightweight champion, boasting a professional MMA record of 17 wins in 17 fights.
