Manchester City could face deduction of up to 100 points for Premier League financial pule breaches
The Premier League could deduct up to 100 points from Manchester City if they are found guilty of violating financial rules. This was reported by football finance expert Kieran Maguire.
Whilst the hearing will finish in eight weeks, if you've got all of that evidence to present to the commission, they're probably going to take three to four months because they've got to rule on each of those 115 charges separately.
If City are guilty of all charges, the punishment must be severe enough to serve as a deterrent to any club contemplating such actions, as it would be highly detrimental to their future," Maguire is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
In February 2023, the EPL accused Manchester City of 115 breaches of financial rules spanning from the 2009/10 season to the 2017/18 season. According to the charges, the "Citizens" failed to comply with UEFA's financial fair play regulations for five years and did not fully cooperate with the league's investigation.
Hearings for Manchester City’s case are set to begin on September 16 and are expected to last around ten weeks.
