Medvedev explains defeat to Sinner in US Open quarterfinal

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has spoken out following his loss to Italy's Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal of the US Open.

"The first set was terrible. Probably worse than the third. I managed to solve many issues in the second set and played better. The same goes for the fourth set, where it felt like I managed to address some problems from the third set.

Playing against Jannik is tough. He has a good feel for the game. He almost always makes the right shot and does so at the right moment. This is where I enjoy playing against high-level players because the tension increases. Every point counts. When you have a break point, you're trying to think about how he will play and how to counter him. I look forward to playing against him more often in Grand Slam tournaments," Medvedev said at the post-match press conference.

The match concluded with a score of 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 in favour of the Italian. Sinner will face Britain's Jack Draper in the semifinal.
