New first-choice goalkeeper for Germany announced following Neuer's departure

Germany's head coach Julian Nagelsmann has announced the new first-choice goalkeeper for the national team.

"Marc-André ter Stegen is our new number one. For many years, he has confidently occupied the primary goalkeeper position at Barcelona and will now become a key figure for the national team. I do not want to artificially fuel competition.

Oliver Baumann delivered excellent performances last season and made a strong impression at the European Championship. Alexander Nübel also showcased high-level skills last season, playing for Stuttgart. The important thing is that we have established our primary goalkeeper," said Nagelsmann at a press conference.

On August 21st, former first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer announced his retirement from the national team. He had been Germany's mainstay for 15 years, making 127 appearances for the national side.
