Premier League and Champions League winner with Liverpool nears move to PAOK

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is close to joining PAOK.

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the Greek club has reached an agreement with Lyon for the transfer of the 35-year-old Croatian. Lovren has also agreed to join the Thessaloniki-based team. The parties are now finalising the details of the deal. The transfer fee and the duration of the player's contract have not been disclosed.

Dejan Lovren moved to Lyon from Zenit in January 2023 for €2 million. The defender played 11 matches for the French club without registering any goal contributions. From 2014 to 2020, the Croatian played for Liverpool, with whom he won the Premier League, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.

With the Croatian national team, Lovren was a silver medalist at the 2018 World Cup and won bronze at the 2022 edition.

The defender’s contract with Lyon is set to expire next summer. Transfermarkt values the player at €1.2 million.
