Rooney Reveals His Preference for the Next England Manager
Former England striker Wayne Rooney has shared his thoughts on who he would like to see appointed as the head coach of the national team.
On August 9, Lee Carsley, the coach of the U21 team, was named the interim manager of the Three Lions.
The 50-year-old Carsley took charge of the U21 team in July 2021. Under his leadership, the team won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship last year, marking their first triumph in this competition since 1984.
It is worth noting that Gareth Southgate, who had been at the helm of the England squad since September 2016, stepped down from his position on July 16.
