"Serious problems await us." Ancelotti appeals to officials over fixture schedule

Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has urged football officials to explore the option of cutting down the number of matches in the season due to the increasing player injuries.

"The schedule has become too packed. We have a new format for the Champions League, and no one can predict how it will turn out. One thing is clear: the number of matches has increased by two games. If the leaders do not start thinking about the players' health, who are getting injured due to overloads, serious problems await us. I urge them to pause and consider the possibility of reducing the number of matches to make the tournaments more engaging," Ancelotti was quoted by Football-Ezra.

Today, on September 17, Real Madrid will face Stuttgart in the 1st round match of the group stage of the Champions League 2024/25.
