Sinner Tests Positive for Doping Twice but Avoids Suspension

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner tested positive for doping twice in March 2024.

The samples revealed the presence of the anabolic steroid clostebol. Sinner disclosed this information on his social media page. He avoided suspension because the samples were contaminated by a spray his physiotherapist used to treat a cut on his own finger. It was reported that particles from the spray transferred to the tennis player following a massage, which the specialist negligently performed without gloves.

While Sinner will not face a suspension, he will lose 400 ranking points and the prize money from the Indian Wells Masters (USA), which took place in March this year.
