Spalletti Says Italy Lacks Players on Totti's Level

Italy's national football team head coach, Luciano Spalletti, has stated that the current squad does not have players on the level of Totti and Baggio.

“I hear conflicting opinions about our team. I always base my thoughts on the belief that in a country like ours, there will always be 20 players capable of forming a strong team. This will always hold true, regardless of the period. Perhaps we need to better understand the era. For instance, we don't currently have true, pure 'technicians' like Baggio, Del Piero, or Totti. But we do have many players who are capable of doing many things on the field, who can adapt and sacrifice themselves. And these details make a decisive impact,” Spalletti told TuttoMercatoWeb.

On September 6, the Italian national team defeated France 3-1 in a Nations League match.
