Team USA tops medal table at 2024 Olympics

The United States has emerged as the winner of the unofficial medal table at the 2024 Olympic Games.

On August 11, the American women's basketball team clinched the tournament title in Paris, defeating France 67-66 in a thrilling final. This victory secured the 40th gold medal for Team USA at the 2024 Olympics. While China's national team also won the same number of golds, the Americans topped the medal table thanks to a higher overall medal count. In total, the United States amassed 40 gold medals, 44 silvers, and 42 bronzes, bringing their total to 126 medals. In contrast, Chinese athletes achieved a total of 91 medals, comprising 40 golds, 27 silvers, and 24 bronzes.

Great Britain finished seventh in the standings, with British athletes earning a total of 65 medals – 14 gold, 22 silver, and 29 bronze.

This marks the fourth consecutive time that Team USA has led the medal tally at the Summer Olympic Games.
