Telles on moving to Al-Nassr: 'Ronaldo called me and said, "Come to Saudi Arabia and enjoy"

Former Manchester United defender Alex Telles, who currently plays for Botafogo, revealed that Portugal's national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo persuaded him to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

"Ronaldo called me when the talks about my transfer to Al-Nassr began. He said to me, 'Come here [to Saudi Arabia] and enjoy; the country is opening up to football.'

When I was still negotiating, he called me again and said he would sort everything out. You feel a sense of responsibility to do your best when you're invited by him," Telles said in an interview with Globo Esporte.

Alex Telles moved to Al-Nassr in the summer of 2023. The defender made 38 appearances for the Riyadh-based team, scoring three goals and providing five assists. In September, the 31-year-old Brazilian terminated his contract with the Saudi club and joined Botafogo as a free agent.
