Trippier Close to Joining Turkish Side Eyüpspor

Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier, who recently announced his retirement from the England national team, is close to moving to Eyüpspor.

According to Eurosport, the 33-year-old player has agreed on personal terms with the Turkish club. Eyüpspor has been actively working on signing the Englishman, and the parties are near completing the deal. However, it has not been specified whether this will be a loan move or a permanent transfer.

Kieran Trippier joined Newcastle from Atlético Madrid in January 2022. This season, the defender has played three matches for the Magpies without registering any goal contributions. Trippier's contract with the English club runs until the summer of 2026. Transfermarkt values the player at €10 million.

Eyüpspor, coached by former Atlético and Barcelona player Arda Turan, currently occupies fourth place in the Turkish Süper Lig table, with eight points from four matches.

The transfer window in Turkey closes on September 13th.
