Usyk released after intervention by Ukrainian President Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the release of boxer Oleksandr Usyk from custody.

Earlier, it was reported that Usyk had been detained at Krakow Airport in Poland.

"I spoke with Oleksandr Usyk on the phone while he was detained. I was outraged by such treatment of our citizen and champion. I instructed Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko to immediately investigate all the details of the incident at Krakow Airport.

As I have just been informed, everything is now fine, our champion has been released and no longer faces detention," Zelensky wrote on social media.

Several Ukrainian media outlets reported that Usyk was detained in Poland for speeding in his car.
