Vegas signs Stanley Cup champion to tryout contract

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward Tanner Pearson to a tryout contract, the club's press service reported. The forward's previous three-year, $9.75 million deal expired at the end of last season.

Pearson spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens, where he scored five goals and made eight assists in 54 games. The 32-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by Los Angeles, 30th overall. Tanner Pearson spent six seasons with the Kings, winning the Stanley Cup in 2014.

In total, Pearson played in 644 games in the National Hockey League (KHL), scored 138 goals, made 147 assists and earned 285 points. The forward also scored 23 points in 51 Stanley Cup playoff games.
