Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins recently competed in the UK Championship final. On his way to the final, Barry defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan, Shaun Murphy and Mark Allen. Barry then had a gruelling semi-final against Mark Allen, which left him with little energy for the final. However, Barry fought until the end and lost to Trump with a score of 10-8. Now, fate has brought these players together again in the first round of the Masters. Two years ago, they faced each other at the Masters, with Judd winning (6-5). If you look at their head-to-head matches at the Masters, out of four meetings, Judd has won two with a score of 6-5, and Barry has won two, with scores of 6-5 and 6-4. We think this time we will see a challenging match of at least 10 frames.
Judd Trump
Judd is having a great season. He has won the UK Championship, Saudi Arabian Masters, and Shanghai Masters, and has also reached the finals of tournaments in Belfast and Xi'an. Judd leads the season rankings with twice as much prize money as second-place Kyren Wilson. Hawkins' achievements are much more modest. Barry has reached the quarter-finals twice, and the highlight of the season was the UK Championship final. However, Barry is an excellent player at the Masters and knows how to play against Judd, so we doubt that Trump will achieve a convincing victory here. Despite the remarkable season, Judd has encountered problems in some matches, and sometimes at Triple Crown tournaments, Judd plays poorly in the initial matches but improves as the tournament progresses.
