While half the grid are desperately searching for any kind of performance lift and frantically testing upgrades, Kimi Antonelli is calmly taking another race win and extending his lead over his closest challenger, George Russell.

Formula 1 Drivers' Championship Title Betting Odds
While the haters of the Silver Arrows continue to criticise them for what looks like an outrageously powerful engine, Formula 1 chief Stefano Domenicali has moved to calm everyone down, insisting the title fight is not over yet and saying he is ready to back a potential Scuderia comeback:
In Miami, though, the new settings still did not help Lewis or Charles climb higher than sixth in Sunday’s race. Of course, after such a disappointing Grand Prix, the team’s management have been telling the press that the most important upgrades are still to come. The problem is that they are not expected before mid June and the Barcelona round, so a miracle in Canada looks unlikely.
Max also gave his fans a brief lift by taking second in qualifying in Miami, but that excitement quickly faded when he could only finish fifth in the race. And while his future in F1 remains uncertain, it already feels fair to say that the 24 Hours of Nürburgring interest him far more than another round of testing Red Bull Racing’s revolutionary upgrades.

Is Young Kimi Pulling Clear?
However good the current Mercedes car may be, Antonelli’s main challenge will not be so much the technical development of rival cars over the course of the season, but his own psychological resilience.
He has made a superb start to the campaign, clearly showing he can fight his way onto podiums even after mistakes at the start and set records in qualifying. But can Antonelli maintain that level of focus under pressure from the team, the fans and the media across a full season?
Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner believes it is still too early to make a definitive call on Kimi as champion:
Even so, bookmakers have little doubt that Kimi will not face serious competition in the upcoming race either. All that remains is for us to wait and see one thing: when will George start complaining about his team mate and spark a conflict that could potentially lead to contact on track?
Canadian Grand Prix Prediction
In the context of the Canadian Grand Prix, the market that stands out most is Ferrari drivers to finish in the top six. Before Miami, Hamilton and Leclerc would have been priced at very short odds in that market, but after such a poor race, the odds on both now look interesting.
Bookmakers are offering 1.33 on Charles to finish inside the top six, while the price on Lewis has climbed to a record 1.83. It is worth remembering that across all the races so far in 2026, Hamilton has missed out on the top six only once, and that did not come in the Miami sprint. So today, we would advise considering both options.
Max’s chances, meanwhile, have been rated much higher, with 1.09 available on him finishing in the top six. But given Red Bull Racing’s current problems, we would be far more willing to believe that Verstappen is the one who fails to climb above seventh or eighth, especially if qualifying goes against him again.
