The Oklahoma City Thunder's superb start to the season leaves the Dallas Mavericks with little chance in their head-to-head clash. The Mavericks have also looked decent recently, but they often suffer defensive lapses which the Thunder will easily exploit.
Dallas Mavericks
In their four games of the new campaign, the Dallas Mavericks have twice fallen short in Texas derbies. Against the Houston Rockets (110:128) and the San Antonio Spurs (106:122), the Mavericks surrendered the initiative and never found an opportunity to mount a comeback. However, Cooper Flagg shone in their latest game against the Miami Heat (113:109), scoring 29 points. Dallas' standout talent will pose the biggest threat.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder lost more than they gained during the off-season, but the quality of their squad has not declined. The Thunder are without Wiggins, Joe and Dort, and have also lost Williams and Cason Wallace to injury, but Ajay Mitchell has been superb at the start of the regular season. He scored a career-high 30 points against the Phoenix Suns (125:114), helping the Thunder to their fourth consecutive victory. Only one of those four wins came by fewer than 10 points.
Dallas Mavericks vs Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction
Last season, the Dallas Mavericks lost three head-to-head meetings with the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the smallest margin of defeat being seven points. The Thunder are extremely consistent — that should help the visitors secure another win.
