Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Galatasaray's formidable attacking line has managed to overcome most opponents in the current Europa League campaign, and against Dynamo Kyiv, who have firmly established themselves as the tournament's main underdogs, they are likely to create plenty of chances. The reigning Turkish champions are expected to seize control of the match from the outset.
Galatasaray
Friday's draw with Hatayspor (1:1) extended Galatasaray's unbeaten streak to 24 matches—their last mishap was against Young Boys (0:1) in the Champions League qualifying round back in August. The previous calendar year in the Europa League saw the Istanbul side finish with a high-scoring draw against Malmö (2:2), tallying 15 goals in the tournament, matching Olympique Lyonnais at the top. Coach Okan Buruk is expected to once again utilise the partnership of Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens—the former Napoli teammates have found perfect synergy following Mauro Icardi's injury.
Dynamo Kyiv
After their defeat to Real Sociedad (0:3) in the sixth round of the group stage, Dynamo Kyiv remain the only team in the Europa League without a point. In San Sebastián, they allowed 2.98 xGA and faced 14 shots on target, managing just a single shot on target in response. With the league on pause, the Ukrainian side are lacking official match practice—since 10 January, they have conceded six goals in five friendlies.
Galatasaray vs Dynamo Kyiv Prediction
A victory over Dynamo Kyiv should secure Galatasaray a spot in the Europa League Round of 16. The Turks are set to achieve this with their motivated attacking group—we're backing at least three goals from the hosts.
